Training for Boards of Management of Primary Schools 2016

As the new Boards settle in and begin their very important work of managing our Catholic primary schools we believe that the old adage ‘tús maith, leath na hoibre’ is an apt one. The training that our board members receive is vital in enabling them to do the best possible job. This year we propose to offer training in three venues across the diocese beginning in April and concluding in October. We encourage as many board members as possible to attend these sessions and if you are not free to attend the venue closest to you please know that you will be welcome at either of the other two venues listed.

The first session will cover the following modules:

• The Board as a Corporate Entity
• Appointment Procedures
• Board Finances and the Role of the Treasurer

There will also be an input on the Ethos of the Catholic School and we hope to have a member of staff from the Charities Regulatory Authority to speak about the Registration of Schools for Charitable Status.

We are very fortunate to have secured the services of two very experienced facilitators for these sessions Margaret Gorman, LL.B, LL.M, Partner and Head of Education in Eversheds International Law Firm and Sean Hourihane BL, Principal of Scoil Áine Naofa, Lucan.
Margaret and Sean have both worked with the Catholic Primary Schools Management Association and have extensive experience in advising and training Boards of Management on the wide variety of issues currently impacting on Irish Primary Schools.
