In 2014 Pope Francis launched a prayer action called “24 Hours for the Lord” to encourage people to return to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The hope was that the action would be replicated all over the world and that at least one church in each diocese would remain open for the full 24 hours to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation to those who wished to celebrate it.
This year it is taking place in three parishes across the Diocese – Portlaoise, Carbury and Tullow. It takes place for a 24 hour period between Friday 24th March and Saturday 25th March.
Portlaoise: 10am Friday to 10am Saturday 24 Hours for the Lord – Portlaoise
Carbury: 5pm Friday to 5pm Saturday 24 Hours for the Lord – Carbury
Tullow: 6pm Friday to 6pm Saturday 24 Hours for the Lord – Tullow
“A time for quiet prayer and reflection in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
An invitation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Priests from around the diocese, including Bishop Denis, will be available during each hour of the 24hour period to hear confessions”.
