The National Synodal Assembly will take place in Gormanstown, Co. Meath on 17th October 2026. Delegates to the assembly have received a preparatory working document in advance of the day. Kildare and Leighlin Delegates met with Bishop Denis on the evening of 24th September and will do so again on 7th October as part of their on-going preparations before the assembly.

The seven Kildare and Leighlin Delegates are:
Fr Ger Ahern, Deacon Jody Callan, CathrÃona Kelly, Matt Lawlor, Deacon Patrick Roche, Victor Souza, Sr Ann Walsh
Alongside these delegates other members of our diocese will be present as delegates through their participation on working groups. These include:
Hilda Campbell, Gerard Gallagher, Dr Oonagh O’Brien and Michelle Ward.
Julie Kavanagh will be present as a member of the National Synod Team while Jean Roche will be present as a staff member of the Irish Episcopal Conference.
