A message from Fr Ruairi O’Domhnaill, Vocations Director
This coming weekend we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday when we traditionally encourage our people to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
It is also known as ‘Good Shepherd Sunday’ because the Gospel is always from John chapter 10 where Jesus speaks of himself as being a caringshepherd. The purpose of this day is to publicly fulfill the Lord’s instruction when he asked us: Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest. (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2).
Currently we have one man in propaedeutic year in the Scots College in Salamanca, and, all going well, he will proceed to study in the seminary in Maynooth this coming September. We also have two men in a process of discernment, which, we hope, will bear fruit soon.
Its important to remember that the theme of Vocations Sunday is to encourage prayer for vocations.
I continue to be available for anyone who wants to discern a vocation to priesthood in our diocese.
With every good wish,
Fr Ruairí
