Dreaming God's Dream

The Diocesan Pastoral Council was established by Bishop Denis in 2019. It is a representative body of the diocesan community comprised of clergy & lay people working in close partnership with the Bishop.

It’s fundamental task is to discern the pastoral needs of the diocese & explore ways to support Bishop Denis in responding adequately to those needs. It operates under the it’s Mission Statement and has identified five themes on which to concentrate it’s work on.

Parishes Alive!

2025

On Saturday, 21st June 2025, Bishop Denis Nulty along with the Diocesan Pastoral Council, hosted a faith conference attended by over 100 parishioners and clergy from around the diocese. The title of the day was “Parishes Alive – Moving Forward in Hope!” The event took place in Carlow College, St. Patrick’s, and marked the second annual Parishes Alive day in the diocese.

2024

Over 100 people from parishes across the diocese gathered with Bishop Denis and members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council on 8 June 2024 in Mount St Anne’s. The day was about sharing good news of what is happening in parishes and learning a bit more together about leadership in the parish and how to plan and discern together. It was a day full of good will and support, ably led by Jim Deeds. We are delighted to share with you, in this report, some of what happened on the day.
