World Day of Prayer for Vocations

To mark the 47th World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Pope Benedict has issued a message to help all who are concerned with vocations. In a letter to fellow priests and religious, Pope Benedict XVI writes that:

The fruitfulness of our efforts to promote vocations depends primarily on Gods free action, yet, as pastoral experience confirms, it is also helped by the quality and depth of the personal and communal witness of those who have already answered the Lords call to the ministerial priesthood and to the consecrated life, for their witness is then able to awaken in others a desire to respond generously to Christs call.

Kerryman, Dr Andrew O Connell, is the lay Communications Director for the Presentation Brothers in Dublin. He is also a member of the National Executive of Vocations Ireland and was a member of the Year of Vocation organising committee. He talks now to Jo Smith about the Vocations Sunday.
