Commenting on the launch, the IEC 2012 team said –
We are delighted to announce the launch of our new website. We will be updating our website regularly as we prepare for the congress which will be held in Dublin in June 2012. We are also hard at work building the site in 6 other languages and we plan to have these live in January 2011. Please make sure you visit the site regularly.
Four Stages of Preparation
The 2012 International Eucharistic Congress will take place in Dublin between the 10th – 17th June 2012. The preparation for the Congress as a national event for the Irish event for the Irish Church begins now and is divided into four stages – see below.
Christ gathers us a Eucharistic Community.
Christ gathers us to listen, to hear, to be nourished and to be formed into community by God’s word.
Christ gathers us to be nourished by the Bread of Life.
Christ gathers and strengthens us for Mission by the Word and the Bread of Life.
Diocesan Delegate and further Information
A national Eucharistic committee has been appointed, with one delegate from each diocese, in order to ensure that there is an opportunity for people in every parish in Ireland to be involved both in the pastoral preparation and in the events of the Congress.
Fr. Thomas O’Byrne is the diocesan delegate for Kildare & Leighlin. If you would like further information on the congress or would like to be involved and/or attend, please feel free to contact him.
