Silent Solidarity – 1st October

With the publication of the “Ryan” and “Murphy” Reports, many have been shocked and saddened by the level of abuse and cover up perpetrated by those with positions of responsibility within the institutional Catholic Church. So many survivors of abuse have to live with the painful memories of the serious damage done to them during childhood, by people in positions of trust.
We cannot change the past. However we can show our concern by remembering all those who were robbed of their innocence at such a young age. We are also aware of those who find themselves in a strained relationship with the institutional Church because of gender issues, sexual orientation or relationship situations.
With this in mind, the Parish Pastoral Council of Naas are inviting the Christian community of Naas to a Silent Walk of Solidarity to show support for all those who have been hurt by the institutional Catholic Church.
The Walk – will take place on Friday, 1st of October. We invite the people of Naas to gather at the Workhouse Graveyard (between Craddockstown & Naas Hospital, parking available) at 8p.m.
We will journey together in candlelight procession to the nearby lake for some quiet reflection and then finish by planting a Tree of Hope in the grounds of the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballycane.
We invite people to join in refreshments afterwards.
