A prayer service will be held at St Brigid’s Well in Kildare on Saturday 2nd May at 5pm to mark the eve of Vocations Sunday and to celebrate the formal closing of the Year of Vocation.

For the past number of years Vocations Ireland has held prayer services to celebrate Vocations Sunday on the evening beforehand. This year Vocations Sunday will fall on Sunday 3rd May.

On Saturday 2nd May, eve of Vocations Sunday, to celebrate the formal closing of the Year of Vocation, Vocations Ireland will hold Prayer Services at four venues,

  • St. Brigid’s Well, Co. Kildare
  • Glendalough, Co. Wicklow
  • Clonmacnois, Co. Offaly
  • Grounds of Dromantine Retreat Centre, Newry, Co. Down

As the prayer services take place out of doors and there is walking involved you are advised to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Times – 2nd May

St. Brigid’s Well, Kidare

5.00 -6.30 pm

The prayer service is starting at 5.00pm at the Healing Well near the Japanese Gardens Car Park. There will be prayer, music and reflection along the way to where the event finishes at the Garden Well. The service will finish with a walk from there into town for Mass at 6.30 in the Parish Church in Kildare.

Clonmacnois

5.00 – 6.30 pm

Assembling in car park. Prayer service will begin in Visitors’ Centre at the Cross of the Scriptures.

Glendalough

6.30 – 8.00 pm

Assembling at St. Kevin’s bed viewing point on Miners’ Road beside upper lake. Car parking in upper lake car park.

Bus available from Dubln city centre (Nassau St. Opposite Kilkenny Design Centre) 4.30 pm and Divine Master Convent, Stillorgan Rd, 5.00pm. 6 retur. Places limited early booking essential.

Dromantine

Assembling outside Church in grounds of Dromantine Retreat and Conference Centre, Newry. Prayer Service will take place in the grounds of Dromantine.

Bus available from Belfast (Jury’s Hotel, Gt. Victoria St.) 5.15 pm and Lisburn (Sprucefield) 5.45pm 5 return. Places limited early booking essential
