This money has allowed us to:

  • rescue over 20,000 people from the floodwaters in the first weeks of the disaster
  • get food, water, hygiene kits and other essentials to over 135,000 people

In the coming months we will be working to:

  • restore communities and help them “to build back better” so they are less vulnerable to flooding in the future
  • provide seeds, tools and fertiliser so that people can begin to recover and feed themselves and their families
  • provide community and household water and sanitation programmes
  • protect women, children and other vulnerable people struggling to survive
  • ensure that the rights of small-scale farmers are protected so they have a right to land on their return home

Thank you for your extraordinary response to this crisis
