Reflections on Irish Art

For the past 13 years Sr. Maureen McMahon O.P. has been writing about Art in The Messenger magazine. She picks a favourite work of art, describes it and then guides the reader to find a deeper meaning in the work. A selection of her articles has now been complied into a beautiful book called ‘A Selection of Irish Art with Reflections’.

Eileen Good met Sr. Maureen and asked her if Art and Spirituality have something in common.

Adapted from the Messenger series A Place Apart’ this is the first time a selection of Sr Maureen MacMahon’s articles have been produced in book format.

The articles span a period of approximately two hundred years of Irish art history. Included are artists from the past and present, men and women, painters and sculptors. There are a variety of styles in these pages, some traditional, others more modern – a visual feast to delight the eye. This book is visually beautiful and spiritually uplifting.
