This short video looks at what is expected to come from this month’s synod in Rome on the theme: “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church”.

Transcript

We are but a few days from the beginning of the XII General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, the second for Pope Benedict XVI, which will be on the theme: “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church”.

Even though biblical science has made great progress, there are still many who do not know the treasure of the Word of God contained in the Gospels, explains Archbishop Ranjith who shares his expectations for the next Synod.

“I do not only expect a document as a result of the Synod but also a program to spread the Word of God that will generate love for the word of God, help understand the word of God and thus help Christians to live the profound content of this word.”

The Synod will take place form October 5 to 26, 2008 and will host 32 attendants, representatives of the 5 continents, among which are some non Catholics.
