The season of Advent is given to us each year to help us prepare for the coming of the Christ-child. There are many ways in which we can help both ourselves and the children focus on the real meaning of what we are about to celebrate. The lighting of the candles on the Advent Wreath each day is a very visible sign of our movement through this season.

This year we offer s suggestion for making a very simple Advent Wreath for your classroom on page 1 and 2. These pages also include a prayer of blessing for the Advent Wreath. You might like to invite your Chaplain to visit the classroom and pray this prayer with the children.

There are prayer services, colouring activities, reflections for teachers, word searches and a host of other activities to help make the Advent season a celebration of our journey towards the birth of the Christ-Child at Christmas. We hope that this resource will be useful to teachers at this time of year.
