Partnership

In this video Maeve Mahon highlights the need for the Board of Management to be support and promote the partnership between the home, school and parish in the work of religious education in general and sacramental preparation in particular.

The following are some of the ways in which the Board might actively support this model:

  • Have a clear policy on Religious Education, including sacramental preparation which underlines the importance of all the partners taking responsibility for the task of educating the child in faith.
  • Provide opportunities for parents to be informed about their child’s religious education. This might also include helping parents continue their own faith development.
  • Provide for the ongoing spiritual and professional development of staff
  • Encourage and facilitate parish personnel to become more closely involved in the life of the school
  • Ensure that all teachers have the resources they need to teach the religious education programme
