Kildare and Leighlin diocese will celebrate the commitment and achievements of over 200 young people who have been involved in the Pope John Paul II Award.  Over the past year these young people, representing 34 parishes and 23 post primary schools/colleges across the diocese, have been engaged in youth ministry and voluntary work in their local Church and Community. The 200 plus awardees will receive their medals and certificates at the fourth annual award ceremony taking place Friday 31st January in the Dolmen Hotel, Carlow at 7.30pm.

The evening will be an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the many ways the young people have been actively involved in their parish and community over the past year. Bishop Denis Nulty will welcome and congratulate the students along with GAA star Ger Brennan who will give a personal testimony on the night.

In attendance at the ceremony will be friends and family of the awardees and representatives from schools, parishes and various charities that have helped the young people complete their award.   The evening will be an opportunity to celebrate the dedication of these young people to faith and good works. During the ceremony, Spirit of KandLe the newly formed diocesan youth choir will lead those gathered in song & prayer while Maura Garrihy; a Youth Ministry Worker from the diocese of Galway will interview some of the award recipients so they can share their experiences of what they did to achieve this award.
