Funeral arrangements

His funeral will repose in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow, arriving toCarlow Cathedral on Sunday evening at 6.30pm. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 2pm. Burial in St. Mary’s cemetery, Carlow.

Biography

Fr. Dermot was born on 12th January 1928. His early education was in Bennekerry NS, the CBS and Knockbeg College. He stidied for the priesthood in St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth and was ordained for the diocese of Kildare & Leighlin on 21st June 1953.

His first appointment was as curate in Baltinglass where he served from August 1953 to June 1968. He also served as curate in Rath (Emo Parish) from June 1968 to August 1975 and in Ballyconnell (Clonmore Parish) from August 1975 to August 1981.

In 1981, he was appointed Parish Priest of Edenderry where he served for thirteen years. In August 1994, he resigned this appointment and accepted a new appointment as curate in Rathvilly Parish. In December 2002, he retired from this post.
