Kildare and Leighlin Marks the Opening of the World Meeting of Families on August 21
Bishop Denis will lead Evening Prayer for the Opening of the WMOF in Carlow Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. with over 150 members of the Kandle choir. This service of prayer will bring together families of all ages and nationalities from across the diocese, including families from abroad as pilgrim, in a rich celebration of music, scripture, prayer, and symbol in the footsteps of our ancestors.
Our guest homilist is Cardinal Peter Turkson, who visits the Diocese to applaud the great strides done in many parishes reaching out to the most vulnerable and wounded families. Cardinal Turkson is currently prefect of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development.
The canteen in St Leos College will offer hospitality for those attending from 6 pm. onwards while the bells of the Cathedral will ring out at 7 p.m. in unison with bells across the island as we being this historic few days for our church and all our families. The Killeshin Pipe Band will lead us from Carlow College into the Cathedral following the tolling of the bells.
