On the First Sunday of Advent, 30 November 2014 Pope Francis officially opened a ‘Year for Consecrated Life’. It will conclude with the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple on 2 February, 2016.

As part of the diocesan marking of this year Bishop Denis will lead a celebration of Evening Prayer in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow on the Solemnity of St. Brigid, 1 February, at 4:00 p.m.

Bishop Denis warmly invites parishioners from across the diocese to join with members of religious orders in this celebration of the gifts and service those in consecrated life have shared and continue to share with generations of people in Kildare and Leighlin.

Refreshments will be served afterwards.

(Note: Consecrated life is a state of life in which people have made a public profession of the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.)
