For the second year running, the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin will have an exhibition stand at the National Ploughing Championships. The 2007 Championships willtake place from Tuesday 25th to Thursday 27th September in Killeigh Parish, Co. Offaly which is in K&L.
The Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, Dr. Jim Moriarty said:
Im delighted that our Diocesan stand will, among such a variety of exhibitions, displays and demonstrations, highlight the profound place of faith in our lifes story.
Farming and farming life is very much a part of who we all are and our closeness to the earth reflects our closeness to God. We hope that all our efforts to nurture and nourish the earth we live on will see us hand on to future generations a healthy, fruitful and vibrant earth. I look forward to meeting visitors to our stand and joining with them in our celebration of Gods creation and blessings.
People attending the Ploughing Championships are invited to visit Stand L305 where information will be available on the various ministries, services and initiativesof theDiocese of Kildare and Leighlin e.g. Reach Out Campaign, World Youth Day 2008, youth ministry, faith development services, vocations etc.
The Exhibition Stand will incorporate a sacred space where visitors will be invited to leave their prayer intentions and encouraged to take home one of the specially prepared Prayer Cards. The following events are scheduled to take place at the Kildare and Leighlin Stand:
- At the stand, there will be prayer each day at 12.00 noon and 3.00pm.
- Each day visitors will be able to see traditional St Brigids Crosses being made and will have the opportunity to try making one themselves.
- Personnel from Vocations Ireland will be in attendance to further promote the gospel invitation to ministry in the priesthood and religious life. Seminarians who arecurrently studying for the diocese will visit the stand on Thursday
