Vision

Our diocesan website is intended to be outward looking and open to church news and faith stories from around the world.

Hence the quote from Matthew´s Gospel – ´You are the light of the world´- in the header of our site.

The passage from Matthew goes on to say that

´a city built on a hilltop cannot be hidden´.

The Church is always called to publicly witness to the faith, to go beyond the familiar.

We cannot hide from this challenge and yet we are not alone in this task.  We can be enlightened by the online presence and initiatives  of our fellow believers from near and far.  We do our best to showcase great content from all over the world.

For a number of years, our diocese has undertaken a campaign entitled ´REACH OUT´and this is very much the spirit of this website.  We want to engage, to exchange insights and resources, to become better informed about our world and to do what we can to make it a better world.  The slogan ´REACH OUT´carries with it a willingness to engage with issues of justice and social concern.

The other ´motto´for our website is the quote from the book of Revelation in the footer -

´Look, I have set before you an open door´.

We hope that our website is welcoming and we encourage everyone to contribute to the site by leaving comments and suggestions.  Together we can make it a better site

Our Diocese

Kildare & Leighlin is one of the 26 Irish dioceses. It has 56 parishes with 117 churches. The Catholic population is estimated at 225,000.

Kildare & Leighlin includes virtually all of Co. Carlow and parts of Counties Kildare, Offaly, Laois, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow. It is part of the Dublin province along with the dioceses of Ferns and Ossory.
