This page is designed to help you become more familiar with our layout and how our content is organised.

Two sides to KandLe site

There are two sides to the Kandle site – PAGES and POSTS.

Information Pages

You can access our Information Pages by clicking on the blue button which is visible on the homepage and in the sidebar of all open posts.

The blue coded Information Pages contain basic information on our parishes, schools, diocesan offices and services.  You can also access a number of special services including

  • Mass Readings for today and next Sunday
  • Live streaming from Portlaoise Parish Church
  • Need to Talk? helplines

Main Menu

The rest of our content which are termed POSTS – which includes news, resources and special features – is arranged into four main headings in the main (drop down) menu which appears under the header.

Each of the main headings contain a number of categories.  You can view all these categories in the footer.

Some posts will be included in more than one category.

The homepage showcases the most recent posts.

The rolling banner features diocesan news while the carousel underneath features the recent posts form the other categories.

Above the image for each post in the carousel, you can see the category in which it is placed – e.g. Papal News, Podcasts as shown in this example.

Posts Categories

At the top of each posts, you can see when the post was created, the author and the categories in which it is placed.  When you click on the name of a category, you will be shown the most recent posts in that category.

Post Sidebar

In the sidebar of all posts, you will find a number of useful elements for accessing posts in different ways – most recent posts, upcoming events, tags and authors.

Each of the 16 tag headings contains ten of our favourite posts in that subject.  So tags is in effective an archive of 160 posts.
