In this video the Archbishop of Westminster, Vincent Nichols, reflects on the meaning of three works in the National Gallery’s exhibition of Spanish religious art.

The video was recorded during the exhibition’s press preview and features Archbishop Vincent Nichols talking to art critics about three specific works of art.

  • Saint Francis standing in Ecstasy, 1663, by Pedro de Mena;
  • Mary Magdalene meditating on the Crucifixion, 1664,Pedro de Mena
  • Dead Christ, about 1625 – 30 by Gregorio Fernandez.
