WYD Blog – Rome August 2008
ShareAs everyone knows, 36 of our World Youth Day pilgrims did not make it to Sydney due to terrible travel problems. However, an alternative pilgrimage to Rome was organised for the group from 9-14th August. Happily 28 of the original group of 36 were able to travel.
We are very grateful to Mgr Liam Bergin in the Irish College in Rome, where the group will stay during their visit. The timing of the visit is based around attending a Papal audience in Castel Gandolfo on Wednesday 13th August.
Along with attending the Papal audience, the group will have a day trip to Assisi as well as various tours around Rome itself. We hope to get some updates and photo’s from the group over the coming days and plenty more pictures when they return.
We are very grateful to everyone for their support for the group and for the various comments left on our original WYD blog. We hope to keep it going here…

Hello to the 36 from Canada,
I’m one of the fortunate pilgrims that was hosted by St Charles Borromeo parish at the last minute. Our hearts and prayers were with you during WYD and we are so happy that you are given the opportunity to journey to Rome in August. Many prayers and blessings on your journey and hopefully you can say hello to the Pope.
God Bless
Yvonne
All the best to all the 36…….I hear the weather in Rome is excellent–rest assured you are missing some of the worst rain I have ever seen here!!!
Hope you all have a fantastic time, enjoy every minute of it.
Don’t forget the yellow hats…………….
